OUTLOOK

Immediately, you’ll notice a lot of senior experience up front for Layton High, and those guys must stay healthy to give this team the runway it needs to compete in the ruthless 6A Region 1. Primary ball carriers JP Garlick and Gavin Hurst are gone, and limited experience aside from senior wideout Carter Hughes returns to the offense. Tillman Thomas threw for 607 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman, and is listed as the name to watch under center entering August. Layton’s a bit of a puzzle, but the good news is the Lancers have the bodies to compete on the line of scrimmage and play deeper into contests than they did a year ago.
