OUTLOOK

UMA-Hill Field (Riverdale) improved considerably under Jesse May in Year 2, and chalked up two important victories over rivals St. Joseph (Ogden) and UMA-Camp Williams (Lehi) to end the regular season with the first winning record of May’s short tenure. Missing from the action, though, are quarterback Davian Tiznado, and leading rushers Papataia Owda and Preston Fenton, leaving two vital skill positions unfilled. Keaton Speier, last year’s leading receiver with 920 yards and 16 touchdowns, is a major piece back for the offense, and Jet Le also returns valuable snaps as a senior leader in the secondary. The Thunderbirds aren’t fully depleted where it counts, but both sides of the ball must mimic last year’s small victories if they’re to move forward.
