OUTLOOK

The Longhorns turned the page on a frustrating inaugural 2024 season last year with a successful 7-5 campaign and the program’s first postseason win that saw WF line up with Region 5 foe Box Elder in the second round of the 5A playoffs. The Bees, for a second time in three weeks, defeated the Longhorns to end their opponent’s season, but Eric Jones returns much of that firepower, including 3,218-yard passer Easton Eilertson and 1,266-yard receiver Gavin Ortegon, back for the program’s sophomore run in Region 5. WF returns just one starter, Ryan Rowley, up front with a mix of experience patching up the line. Leading rusher Elijah Woods (532 yards) adds an extra jolt. Defensively, senior end Logan McClure (30 tackles) returns, and fellow senior Ace Charlesworth (49 tackles) is a name to watch at linebacker. Three senior DBs — Ortegon, Kolt Abbott and Phoenix Sandoval — have played a lot of football and should be fairly troublesome against the pass.
