Corner Canyon at Davis

Aug. 14, Kaysville

The obvious first pick on any list this season. Kaysville will be rocking when these two schools snap the ball for the first time ever. It features two 6A powers, both with fresh legs and fresh questions entering a Week 1 showdown. Consider this one appointment television.

Weber at Fremont

Aug. 14, Plain City

Fremont won this matchup last year, but roster changes — including the losses of Salesi Moa, Manase Tuatagaloa, Cade Hadley and others — leave the Silverwolves with many questions entering a Week 1 matchup with rival Weber, which returns starting quarterback Carter Payne and leading wideout Creed DeVries.

Northridge at Layton

Aug. 21, Layton

The Lancers enjoyed a gritty 21-17 road win at Northridge in last year’s Battle for the Sword. Trevor Thomas and Layton aim to protect that showing at home this year, one week after hosting 5A Timpview. Northridge, led by senior quarterback Liam Fresques, marches in to bring the sword home.

Ogden at Grantsville

Sept. 25, Grantsville

Ogden hasn’t managed to knock off the Cowboys since dropping to 3A beginning with the 2021 season. This year, too, proves tough with a road trip on the calendar, but the Tigers enter the contest having already faced multiple tests against Bear River, Bonneville, West Field and Clearfield before region play.

West Field at Box Elder

Oct. 16, Brigham City

The Bees scored 35-plus points against the Longhorns in two meetings last season. While West Field fit its first-ever playoff win between those losses, it’ll travel to Brigham City for its last game of the Region 5 calendar. Region 5 is competitive again in 2026 and this game could ultimately tell the story, should the stars align.
