Prep roundup: West Field football takes late loss to Woods Cross
WOODS CROSS — West Field High football trailed 20-0 at the half, then took a 21-20 lead midway through the fourth quarter only to see Woods Cross respond with a 6-minute touchdown drive for a go-ahead score with 1:10 left in the game, helping the Wildcats to a 26-21 victory on Friday.
Easton Eilertson threw 17 of 32 for 288 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for West Field (0-2). Gavin Ortegon caught six passes for 126 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown. Five of those balls went to Phoenix Sandoval for 103 yards.
The Longhorns got on the board when Eilertson connected with Kolt Abbott for a 10-yard score with 4:56 left in the third quarter.
Elijah Woods scored on a 5-yard run with 10:58 left in the game. Ortegon’s 80-yarder came with 7:26 left and Jaxon Hart’s PAT gave West Field a short-lived, 21-20 lead.
Trevyn Thomas led West Field’s defense with 12 tackles and one sack. Logan McClure added nine tackles.
LAYTON CHRISTIAN 21, SNOW CANYON 7
ST. GEORGE — Chris Munroe rushed for 242 yards on 21 carries and Layton Christian went on the road to defeat Snow Canyon.
Munroe added three catches for 38 yards and a touchdown. Colton Johns threw 12 of 24 for 153 yards and all three touchdowns for Layton Christian (2-0). Synic Harvey caught three balls for 66 yards and a score. Kili Fuahala racked up four tackles for loss.

PLEASANT VIEW — Carter Payne threw a touchdown pass to Creed DeVries in the final minutes to lift Weber (2-0) to a home win over Brighton. No stats were reported.

KEARNS — Bryson Ridge had a kickoff return for a touchdown and Clearfield won big for a 2-0 record to start the season. No stats were reported.
RIGBY-ID 35, ROY 0
ROY — Rigby (Idaho) held Roy to 176 yards of offense to claim a shutout road victory.
Gunner Pearson threw 8 of 16 for 145 yards to lead Roy (1-1), adding 24 rushing yards but throwing two interceptions and losing one fumble. Tyler Dickson hauled in two passes for 71 yards.
Bryton Ketcham totaled 14 tackles for Roy’s defense.
JUDGE MEM 13, BEN LOMOND 7
SALT LAKE CITY — Adrian Vanecos returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough for Ben Lomond (0-2) to overcome 108 yards of offense and break a now 23-game losing streak in a road game at Judge Memorial.
Dominic Harris and Jadeon Evans each forced a fumble for the Scots’ defense.
