Morgan High senior wrestlers Chase Allen and Luke Woolsey captured individual titles at the 3A state championships Thursday at Snow College in Richfield.

Allen cleared the 215-pound bracket with a 4-0 record and a 17-1 win over his teammate, Gabe Toone, in the title match, decided by technical fall (5:01). Woolsey also finished a perfect 4-0 with a 6-5 decision over Canyon View’s Limoni Matakaiongo for the 157-pound title.

Toone (215 pounds), Joseph Belinski (165 pounds), and Skyler Crowther (175 pounds) each finished state runner-up in their respective weight classes.

On the girls side, Callie Toone led the way with a third-place finish in the 125-pound bracket; Toone defeated Ogden sophomore Cailyn Knighton in the pair’s fifth and final match. Camrie Carter (115 pounds), and Lilly Middaugh (130 pounds), and Brynleigh Jensen (145 pounds) each finished sixth.

BL’s Centeno brings home bronze

Ben Lomond junior Evan Centeno won three matches before falling to Canyon View’s Jaxten Bowler by a 12-6 decision in the 3A boys 133-pound semifinal on Thursday. Centeno claimed third place with a 6-4 decision over Carbon’s Ashdyn Densley in the subsequent consolation rounds.

Centeno finished this season 34-14 and with a career record of 171-51.

Ogden’s Knighton finishes in top 5

Ogden High sophomore Cailyn Knighton won three of her five state matches for a fourth-place finish in the 3A girls 125-pound bracket.

Knighton opened the tournament with wins over Grantsville’s Taylor Rackley (8-0 fall) and Canyon View’s Sadie Sams (4-1 decision) before falling to Grantsville’s Hannah Miller in the semifinals.
