Prep basketball roundup: Clearfield girls, boys both tally big region wins

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield High girls basketball took a 33-18 lead into halftime on the way to a 65-45 region win Friday over West Field.

Isabelle Wyaskett led all scorers with 16 points and two 3-pointers for Clearfield (14-7, 9-1 Region 5). Brighton Bernards tallied 11 points and Amoree Scholer scored 10.

Kylee Mueller paced West Field (10-12, 5-6) with 15 points and two treys. Tahlia Munoz scored 11 points on three 3-pointers and two free throws.

BOX ELDER 63, BONNEVILLE 36

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder took a 14-9 lead after one quarter and built that lead in every quarter for a region win over Bonneville.

Krew Peterson led all scorers with 16 points and two 3-pointers for Box Elder (10-11, 5-5 Region 5). Eli Gilmore tallied 12 points and Jaxon Jeppsen scored eight.

Bryson Landis paced Bonneville (2-19, 0-10) with 10 points and Jackson Call scored nine.

FREMONT 61, NORTHRIDGE 48

PLAIN CITY — Fremont outscored Northridge 34-21 in the second half to break a 27-27 halftime tie in a region win.

Easton Hansen led all scorers with 26 points and two 3-pointers for Fremont (7-14, 5-5 Region 5). Cam Campbell, Zeb Whetton and Zach Hancock each scored eight points.

Jace Whitear hit four 3-pointers on his way to 16 points for Northridge (10-12, 3-8). Jack Hodson and Theo Roach each scored eight points.

SYRACUSE 62, WEBER 51

PLEASANT VIEW — Syracuse outscored Weber 36-17 in the second half to turn a 34-26 deficit into a region road win.

Carter Robinson tallied a double-double for Syracuse (11-9, 3-3 Region 1) with 24 points on two 3-pointers and 10 rebounds. Colton Hoenigman scored 21 points and Skyler Orton added seven points.

Weber (7-15, 0-7) did not report stats.

TIMPANOGOS 55, DAVIS 54

KAYSVILLE — Davis trailed 48-36 after three quarters but couldn’t quite complete a comeback in a nonregion home loss to Timpanogos.

Tradon Bessinger led Davis (14-8) with 11 points and seven rebounds. Bode Sparrow added 11 points and Cameron Brower scored eight points with two 3-pointers.

LOGAN 78, BEN LOMOND 62

OGDEN — Cole Parkinson poured in 31 points for Ben Lomond but Logan (5-17, 5-5 Region 12) erased a halftime deficit with a 21-11 third quarter to hand the Scots a home loss.

Taggart Bush added 18 points for Ben Lomond (2-21, 0-10).

STANSBURY 65, BEAR RIVER 56

STANSBURY PARK — Bear River led 38-29 at the half but was outscored 36-18 after the break in a region loss at Stansbury (10-13, 7-7 Region 11).

Kaser Thurgood led Bear River (9-14, 6-8) with 19 points. Beckham Reese tallied 11 points and Korver Riley scored 10.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 63, DREAM CITY-AZ 46

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Gabe Sularski totaled 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals to get Layton Christian Academy its 20th win, beating the Dream City Christian (Arizona) national team on the road Thursday.

Omar Mowafak added 14 points and eight rebounds for LCA (20-4).
