Prep basketball roundup: Davis, Syracuse girls set up Friday showdown
LAYTON — Davis High girls basketball led 21-12 after the first quarter and kept the lead the rest of the way in a 56-44 region win Tuesday at Layton.
Kate Willard scored a game-high 13 points for Davis (15-7, 6-1 Region 1). Kiara Zwonitzer and Lydia Tarbet each added 11 points.
Hadley Collier paced Layton (6-14, 1-7) with 12 points. Hana Lee scored nine points and Kaymbree Henry tallied seven points.
SYRACUSE 59, FARMINGTON 44
SYRACUSE — Syracuse trailed 25-16 at the half but outscored Farmington 43-18 the rest of the way for a region win.
Maylee Anderson led all scorers with 23 points and two 3-pointers for Syracuse (16-5, 6-1 Region 1). Rachel McBride tallied 14 points and Mindy McNeil scored seven.
Brooklyn Romney hit six 3-pointers for 18 points for Farmington (13-8, 3-4).
Syracuse and Davis will meet Friday to determine the Region 1 title.

SYRACUSE 69, FARMINGTON 57
SYRACUSE — Syracuse used a 50-36 advantage over the final three quarters to break a 19-19 first-quarter tie and down Farmington (11-11, 2-5 Region 1) in a region win.
Colton Hoenigman led a balanced Syracuse (12-9, 4-3) squad with 20 points. Carter Robinson tallied 16 points, Bracken Lessey netted 12 points, Skyler Orton scored 11 points and Cohen Godderidge added 10.
RIDGELINE 78, BEAR RIVER 62
MILLVILLE — No. 21 Bear River fell behind 10-0 and trailed 51-26 at the half in a 4A first-round loss at No. 12 Ridgeline (16-8).
Kaser Thurgood led all scorers with 25 points for Bear River. Cutler Christensen scored 12 points and Karson Summers added 10 points.
The Bears end the season with a 9-15 record.
