OREM — The Layton High boys wrestling team completed its season-long quest for a fourth consecutive state championship on the final day of Utah’s 6A boys and girls wrestling championships Thursday at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center.
The Lancers produced five individual champions — four-time champion Austin Paris (157), three-time champion Noah Bull (150), two-time champion Lander Bosh (132), Army-West Point commits Elijah Hawes (190) and Gavin Regis – a fourth straight title finish for coach Adam Fager and his Lancers since 2023.
Layton finished with the state’s top boys program, tallying 300.5 total points over the course of the two-day tournament at UVU. Corner Canyon (227) finished second and Syracuse (194.5), led by 106-pound freshman champion Reid Harris and 138-pound runner-up Mason Carlson, slid into the top three above Davis (177.5).
The fourth-place Darts captured three individual titles with Austin Ellis (144), Shepard Stephens (215), and Tomasi Hasson (285) walking the stage. Cohen Earl (150) and Blu Stephens (165) fell to Regis and Bull, of Layton, in their respective title bouts.
Bull, committed to Nebraska, missed the majority of his senior season due a shoulder injury.

Layton High's Brynlee Sorensen leaves the floor after being named the 125-pound champion of the 6A girls state wrestling championship on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at the UCCU Center in Orem.
“It flies by, it’s sad,” Bull said. “I really had a rough year, and I was out most of the season. So, to come back for state and I’m already done, it sucks. I’m happy to be back, but it’s really sad and I’m going to miss all my friends and my teammates. It’s really hard.”
All five of Layton’s individual boys champions are committed to Division I wrestling institutions (Paris is committed to Wyoming) and entered the season with the ultimate goal of hanging a banner in their final year of high school wrestling.
Layton finished with 18 total medalists on the boys side.
Layton also had one individual girls state champion, junior and three-time champ Brynlee Sorensen (125), who bested Mountain Ridge’s Faith Bowen 7-0 (fall 0:49) in her championship bout.
“I know when I wrestle like that, nobody can stop me,” Sorensen said. “It’s my mat and it’s my control, and I’ve just worked so hard that I know nobody’s worked as hard as me. In that moment, it’s mine and stepping into the tournament, I had the mindset of going one match at a time.”

Weber High's Abigail Giatras eyes Copper Hills' Naomi Kofe during the 120-pound championship of the 6A girls state wrestling championship on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at the UCCU Center in Orem.
Sorensen said her victory helps highlight a team effort.
“I think it just kinda puts us more in the spotlight,” Sorensen said of Layton’s girls team. “As our team is growing and getting better, I think it just provides us with an example of a standard of keeping up with the boys and keep getting better every day.”
Overall, Davis (sixth, 124.5) and Syracuse (seventh, 123.5) still finished higher than Layton (8th, 100) on the girls side. The Darts, led by third-place medalist Emma Wallace (105), listed seven total medalists; Syracuse tallied six and Layton finished with five.
Freshman Harris wins first career title for Syracuse
Carving out his own piece of the night, Syracuse newcomer Reid Harris capped an already exciting freshman campaign with his first career state title, defeating Layton’s Keith Kent by a 19-9 major decision in the 106-pound class.
It’s the third time Harris, finishing his first season 37-11, faced off with Kent in a matchup the Syracuse star said has made him a better wrestler across the board. On Thursday, Harris knew what he was looking for to snuff out his opponent down the stretch.

Layton High's Noah Bull holds down Davis High's Cohen Earl during the 6A boys state wrestling championship on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at the UCCU Center in Orem.
“They were both good, close matches and I knew if I was getting to my attack, you know, faking, moving my feet, I’d be able to take him down,” Harris said. “I knew that if I could take him down, and that if I was the aggressor, putting pressure on him, I would win.”
In addition to Harris’ first-ever crown, Syracuse senior and Minnesota commit Carlson finished state runner-up in helping drive up the Titans’ team score and surpass region foe Davis by 7.5 to join the top three on the boys side.
This season, Harris has tapped Carlson as something of a mentor.
“He’s helped me a ton,” Harris said of Carlson. “At the beginning of the season, I was in there with him on Friday mornings. He’s obviously one of the best, so he’s been super helpful.”
