Boys basketball playoffs: Clearfield, Roy set for Region 5 rematch in 5A bracket

The Royals (18-5, 10-2 Region 5) have flipped the script on a disappointing 2024-25 campaign with one of their best seasons in recent memory, and notable wins over region foes No. 14 West Field (14-9, 9-3), No. 20 Box Elder (11-12, 6-6) and No. 21 Fremont (9-14, 7-5).
West Field will host No. 19 Viewmont in the first round; Box Elder, Fremont, No. 22 Northridge (11-12, 4-8) and No. 23 Clearfield (9-14, 6-6) all hit the road.
The top eight seeds in the 24-team field bye to the second round but none of Region 5’s contingent earned a bye.
All first and second-round matchups are held Feb. 18-20 at home sites. Subsequent rounds are held Feb. 23-27 at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.
Bonneville (2-21, 0-12) did not make the playoff cut.

First round (Feb. 18, 7 p.m.): No. 23 Clearfield (9-14) at No. 10 Roy (18-5), No. 20 Box Elder (11-12) at No. 13 Salem Hills (13-10), No. 21 Fremont (9-14) at No. 12 Pleasant Grove (12-11), No. 22 Northridge (11-12) at No. 11 Woods Cross (15-8), No. 19 Viewmont (10-14) at No. 14 West Field (14-9)
