Prep basketball roundup: Fremont girls, Morgan boys claim wins to open week

PLAIN CITY — Fremont High girls basketball trailed after one quarter, then took control with a 23-11 second-quarter advantage on the way to a 68-60 home win over Maple Mountain on Tuesday night to reach the 10-win mark.

Abby Christensen scored 27 points with three 3-pointers for Fremont (10-2). Jersie Slater tallied 12 points with two treys and Maya Jensen added nine points.

MORGAN — Morgan outscored Park City 23-14 in the first quarter and kept the pressure on for a home win Monday.

Bracken Saunders led all scorers with 31 points for Morgan (11-2). Jake Hansen tallied 27 points with two 3-pointers. Mason Williams added 11 points and eight rebounds.

SKYRIDGE 67, LAYTON 56

LEHI — Layton led 29-22 at the half but a 25-7 third-quarter deficit sent the Lancers to defeat at Skyridge on Tuesday.

Karter Miller led all scorers with 23 points and three 3-pointers for Layton (10-4). Chase Randall scored 16 points with two treys. Jack Godderidge added 11 points.

LEHI 64, WEBER 61 (OT)

LEHI — Weber led 29-28 at the half but took a tight overtime loss at Lehi.

Derik Bowden led Weber (6-7) with 22 points. Thomas Packer scored 13 points with two 3-pointers and Carson Hill added 10 points.

AMERICAN FORK 67, DAVIS 56

AMERICAN FORK — Davis scored the game’s first four points, then American Fork scored 16 straight points to take control.

Tradon Bessinger and Cameron Brower each scored 15 points for Davis (8-4), with Bessinger hauling in seven rebounds and Brower corralling five boards. JT Turley added 14 points.
