Prep basketball roundup: Davis boys storm back but fall to Corner Canyon in OT

KAYSVILLE — Davis High boys basketball, which trailed by as many as 24 points in the second quarter, outscored Corner Canyon 35-15 in the second half to force overtime but fell 67-63 in the extra period Tuesday in Kaysville.

Cameron Brower led all scorers with 22 points on four 3-pointers and nine rebounds for Davis (12-6). Bode Sparrow tallied 21 points and five steals. JT Turley added 14 points and four assists.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 57, TIMPVIEW 56

LAYTON — After Timpview took a 56-55 lead on a layup with four seconds left, Emilis Zibuda took a pass at half-court, drove to the basket and banked in a short floater at the horn to give Layton Christian the win.

Roman Avdejev led Layton Christian (17-3) with 14 points. Gabriel Sularski tallied 13 points and Zibuda scored eight points.

SKYRIDGE 64, WEBER 53

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber played Skyridge even in the second half but trailed 36-25 at the break in a home loss.

Derik Bowden led Weber (7-12) with 19 points. Creed DeVries added 12 points with two 3-pointers.

LONE PEAK 65, SYRACUSE 47

SYRACUSE — Syracuse fell behind 14-4 after one quarter and could get no closer in a home loss to Lone Peak.

Colton Hoenigman led Syracuse (10-9) with 19 points. Bracken Lessey added nine points, Skyler Orton tallied eight points and Carter Robinson scored seven.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

OGDEN 75, LOGAN 16

OGDEN — Ogden held Logan (6-12, 0-7 Region 12) to single-digit scoring in each half in a big region win.

Freshman Juliet Knowles led all scorers with 12 points for Ogden (10-10, 3-4). Whitney Fife added nine points while Salote Tonga, Ashley Davis and Jill Wood each scored eight points.

BEAR RIVER 37, DESERET PEAK 33

TOOELE — Bear River trailed 31-28 but closed the game on a 9-2 run for a region road win at Deseret Peak (5-15, 2-9 Region 11).

Maylee Higley led Bear River (8-12, 3-8) with 15 points and three 3-pointers. Olivia Fry tallied eight points and Baylee Roberts scored five.

LONE PEAK 57, SYRACUSE 51

SYRACUSE — A 23-7 deficit in the second quarter doomed Syracuse in a home loss to Lone Peak.

Maylee Anderson led Syracuse (13-5) with 17 points and four 3-pointers. Mindy McNeil added nine points and Olivia Sorensen scored eight.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 60, BEN LOMOND 11

OGDEN — Layton Christian Academy led 47-5 at the half in a win at Ben Lomond.

Layton Christian (11-8, 5-2 Region 12) did not report stats.

Regahn Espinoza led Ben Lomond (4-15, 1-6 Region 12) with six points. Diana Campos-Ramer added three points.
