Prep basketball roundup: West Field still in 1st; Morgan nets 36-point quarter

PLAIN CITY — Daxton Laughter scored a game-high 27 points to keep West Field High boys basketball in first place with a 58-53, rivalry road win Wednesday at Fremont.

Jaden Fowers tallied 13 points for West Field (12-6, 7-1 Region 5) and Cason Malan added 11 points. The Longhorns outscored Fremont 23-19 in the fourth quarter.

Easton Hansen led Fremont (6-13, 4-4) with 19 points. Zeb Whetton hit four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points and Cam Campbell added 10 points.

MORGAN 93, GRANTSVILLE 53

MORGAN — Morgan outscored Grantsville (10-9, 2-5 Region 12) by a stunning 36-4 tally in the second quarter on the way to a big region win.

Brody Peterson led Morgan (18-2, 7-0) with 29 points, seven 3-pointers and seven steals. Bracken Saunders added 23 points while Jake Hansen and Mason Williams each scored 11.

BEAR RIVER 67, DESERET PEAK 43

GARLAND — Cutler Christensen scored 19 points and Kaser Thurgood added 15 as Bear River (8-12, 5-6 Region 11) ran past winless Deseret Peak (0-20, 0-11).

OGDEN 54, LOGAN 46

LOGAN — Ogden (12-8, 3-4 Region 12) took a 44-34 lead with 2:22 left in the game and held off a spirited Logan (3-16, 3-4) rally for a region road win.

AM HERITAGE 82, BEN LOMOND 35

OGDEN — Ben Lomond (2-18, 0-7 Region 12) trailed 20-18 after one quarter but was outscored 62-17 the rest of the way in a region loss to American Heritage (13-7, 6-1).

ROY — Northridge outscored Roy 10-4 in the third quarter to take control in a region road win.

Rihanna May led all scorers with 19 points for Northridge (2-16, 2-6 Region 5). Morgan Hale tallied eight points and Lauren Terrando scored six.

Lily Solomona paced Roy (0-18, 0-8) with 12 points. Jazzi Prieto scored 10 points and Eva Reed added seven points.
