Syracuse regroups along the bench during a 6A girls basketball state semifinal Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.

You can soon catch five members of Syracuse High School’s graduating class on the college hardwood.

Recent Syracuse graduates Maylee Anderson, Rachel McBride, Zaydie Peterson, Olivia Sorenson and Karsyn Visser all signed offers to continue their respective playing careers at the next level during a signing ceremony at the school on Tuesday afternoon.

Those five seniors represent roughly one-third of Braden Hamblin’s 2025-26 team, and each played a pivotal role in delivering the most successful Titan campaign in recent memory with the program’s first trip to the 6A girls basketball state semifinals since 2012.

In addition to acquiring a sixth region title (and second consecutive), Syracuse players led Region 1 in points per game (Anderson, 16.1), points per 32 minutes (Anderson, 17.8), assists per game (Anderson, 3.9), and blocks per game (McBride, 1.6). Anderson was named the 2026 Standard-Examiner All-Area Girls Basketball Player of the Year in addition to multiple All-Area selections for the team.

Maylee Anderson, Northwest College: Anderson served as the floor general to cap four full seasons as a member of Hamblin’s varsity squad. Anderson’s 17.8 points per 32 minutes rank 6th in Utah and 329th nationally.

Rachel McBride, Northwest College: McBride, who averaged 46% from the floor in 20-plus minutes per game during her final two seasons at Syracuse, will follow her high school point guard to the two-year Northwest College, located in Powell, Wyoming, roughly 1 1/2 hours outside of Yellowstone National Park.

Zaydie Peterson, Walla Walla: Peterson saw her floor time increase dramatically as a senior, and the senior shooting guard (3.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.2 apg) netted an offer to continue playing ball at NAIA Walla Walla University in College Place, Washington.

Olivia Sorenson, Snow College: Sorenson averaged 23.5 minutes per game throughout the entirety of her career and appeared in 71 games as Syracuse’s 6-foot power center. She averaged a career-high 6.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game as a senior, and will join former Utah Valley coach Michael Shreeve’s frontcourt next season in Ephraim.

Karsyn Visser, Central Wyoming: Visser took a major step in her senior season, as well, with 6.1 points, 3.9 and 2.1 assists through 22.6 minutes per game. She’ll test the waters at the two-year Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming.
