Brodie Scheinberg, the junior three-star prospect who transferred to Davis this offseason from Saint John Bosco near Los Angeles, withdrew from school on Monday, the program confirmed to the Standard-Examiner on Wednesday.

Scheinberg is now enrolled at Newbury Park High School in his home state, according to a report by Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times.

Davis named senior Paden Toula its Week 4 starter on Saturday and, by Monday, Scheinberg, the presumed backup, decided to leave Utah just three weeks into the regular season, the team said.

Scheinberg completed 64 passes (60%) for 570 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions in three starts at quarterback. The California native completed just 19 of 33 attempts for 166 yards, one touchdown and one interception last week in a 42-7 loss at Mountain Ridge.

Moving forward, Toula takes hold of the offense after moving to Davis from Bonneville last year as a junior. Toula, having completed just four passes so far this season as Scheinberg’s No. 2, threw for 1,442 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions last year with the Lakers.

Bonneville celebrating veterans, active military

Veterans and active service members can enjoy some high school football on Friday night when Bonneville hosts Fremont at Budge Field in Washington Terrace. The Lakers are celebrating veterans and active military with free admission to Friday’s home game against Fremont, scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

A flag celebration is slated for the national anthem, and a potential pregame flyover is in the works, the school said Wednesday.

Local bank cuts check to Box Elder SD

Goldenwest Credit Union, a regional credit union with branches located throughout Northern Utah and Southern Idaho, made a $2,000 donation to the Box Elder School District, the district’s foundation shared via Instagram on Tuesday. The donation, targeting Box Elder’s financial literacy programs, was part of the opening of the organization’s newest branch in Tremonton.
