Ogden Raptors split Grand Junction series, start penultimate regular-season homestand this week
The Ogden Raptors beat Grand Junction 10-4 on Monday night to salvage a series split with the Rockies on the road. Ogden won on Sunday and Monday after losing three of the first four to the Rockies.
Starting pitcher Reza Aleaziz went five innings and allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts and departed the game with a 2-1 lead.
Ogden scored two runs in the sixth inning, three in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth to go up 10-4 and mitigate a shaky outing by the bullpen pitchers.
The scoring came from a variety of wild pitches and singles until the seventh inning when Jakob Goldfarb hit his 23rd home run of the season, a two-run shot to make the score 7-3. The 23rd homer puts him one behind Missoula’s Zach Almond for the league lead.
Goldfarb hit 2 for 5 and Josh Broughton hit 3 for 6 for Ogden. The Raptors start their penultimate homestand of the regular season on Wednesday against the Missoula Paddleheads.
Home games now start at 6:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. except on Sundays, when home games are at 4 p.m.
