Boise tops Ogden Raptors 9-4 on Thursday

By Brett Hein - Standard-Examiner | Jun 2, 2022

The Ogden Raptors’ three-game win streak ended Thursday when the Boise Hawks got out to a big lead and the Raptors couldn’t recover in a 9-4 decision at Memorial Stadium in Boise.

Third baseman Jesus Valdez hit 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Ogden. His first RBI came in the top of the second inning to tie the game 1-1. His second RBI came in the seventh and was Ogden’s next run, cutting a large deficit to 9-2.

Raptors first baseman Freddy Achecar doubled in two runs in the eighth for the final score.

In between, Boise scored the rest of its runs in the second and third innings against Ogden starter Tom Walker (five hits, three earned runs in two innings) and Riley Otteson (three earned runs in one inning).

In the second, Tyler Jorgensen tripled in a run and scored on an error to make it 4-1. In the third, Derek Romberg walked with the bases loaded and Kobe Lopez doubled in two runners as part of a five-run inning to make it 9-1.

After that, Ogden’s Emmanuel Rosario pitched around two hits and three walks across four scoreless innings of relief, and Miguel Cirino pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning for the Raptors.

The two teams play in Boise through Sunday.
