The Ogden Raptors employed a bullpen day in the second game of a six-game series against the Rocky Mountain Vibes on Wednesday night in Colorado Springs.

The league’s second-best scoring offense rapped 18 hits and the Vibes claimed a 17-8 victory.

By Ogden pitcher, the Vibes (40-39, 20-12) scored four runs against Riley Ottesen (two innings), five against Chase Stratton (one inning), zero against Jon Rice (one inning), four against Dillon Champagne (1/3 inning), zero against Marshall Shill (2/3 inning), three against Quinn Waterhouse (two innings) and one against Foster Pace (one inning).

Former Raptor Brandon Crosby hit 4 for 6, scoring three runs, in the leadoff spot for RMV. Elvis Peralta hit 3 for 5 right behind him and third baseman Dusty Stroup nears 100 RBIs for the season by driving in five runs (some of which came on his three drawn walks).

Ogden (43-37, 12-20) briefly took a 6-4 lead with all runs coming in the top of the third, getting RBI singles from Josh Broughton, Cam Phelts and Logan Williams, a two-run single from Juan Teixeira and an RBI triple off the bat of Reese Alexiades.

But the Vibes beat up Stratton for five runs in the bottom of the third and the game was never in doubt after that.

With two weeks left in the regular season, the Vibes hold a 3 1/2-game lead in the South Division’s second-half race.

The two teams continue the series Thursday through Sunday.
