Two fans watch an Ogden Raptors game at Lindquist Field on May 27, 2023, in Ogden.

The Ogden Raptors returned home and the team’s pitching and hitting followed.

For the third straight night, Ogden’s bats and arms were on point and the Raptors beat up Idaho Falls 13-2 to open a three-game weekend series Friday night at Lindquist Field.

The victory followed wins of 4-1 and 12-3 to close a weekday series in Boise.

Ed Baram was the pitcher of the night for Ogden (13-9). He completed seven innings for the win, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking three while inducing 11 flyouts on 99 pitches.

The only reason Idaho Falls (10-12) got to Baram was that he walked two batters and hit another in the top of the sixth to load the bases. The Chukars scored when Tyler Wyatt hit a sacrifice fly to score Zach May. Baram otherwise got out of it unscathed.

Ogden’s offense left behind a missed-chances first inning (loaded the bases with no outs, only scored one run) and hammered Idaho Falls pitching throughout the night.

Outfielder Nick Ultsch was the hitter of the night. He batted 4 for 5 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs while scoring three runs. The Raptors outhit the Chukars 13-4 for the game.

Ultsch doubled and Cam Phelts tripled to score runs in the second. In the third, after RBI singles from infielders Dakota Conners and Rafael Narea, Ultsch tripled in two more runs. The Raptors led 8-0 through four innings, scored via 10 hits and three walks against Chukars starter Dusty Baird.

Jeffrey Rotz held Ogden off the scoreboard for two innings before a doubles parade in the seventh. Sal Gozzo (two RBIs), Ultsch and Reese Alexiades (one RBI each) each doubled in runs for a 13-1 lead.

Quinn Waterhouse relieved Baram in the eighth for Ogden and pitched around a walk for a harmless inning.

Damian Henderson made his mound debut for the Raptors in the ninth. He walked Mark Herron Jr., who took second and third on defensive indifference, then scored on a sacrifice fly. With two outs, Henderson surrendered Idaho Falls’ first hit since the fifth inning on a single by Sam Troyer before striking out May to end the game.

The two teams finish the series at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
