Ogden Raptors outfielder Reese Alexiades rounds third to score against Idaho Falls on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

OGDEN — The last time Daniel Silva pitched at Lindquist Field, he threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout.

Thursday, the Idaho Falls righty surrendered two singles and a three-run Logan Williams homer before recording an out and the Ogden Raptors offense was off to the races.

Ogden claimed the game 18-5 — its fifth straight victory by double digits and 11th win in the last 13 games — to sweep the three-game series in front of a season-high 5,246 fans.

Williams’ first-inning dinger gave him one in each game of the short series. That wasn’t enough for the Raptors catcher: he led off a nine-run seventh with a single and when his turn came up again, he cracked a grand-slam liner to left field to put Ogden up 16-5.

That gave Williams a 5-for-6 night at the plate with 9 RBIs after he also had an RBI double in the third and an RBI single in the fourth.

A setting sun illuminates the mountains as the Ogden Raptors play the Idaho Falls Chukars on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Those hits, a Dane Tofteland sacrifice fly and a Reese Alexiades RBI double helped the Raptors (21-11) build a 7-1 lead against Silva.

It was 7-5 by the time Silva’s night was done as Idaho Falls (12-21) got to Ogden starter Pablo Arevalo. Zach May clanged a two-run homer off the fair pole in right field to make it 7-3 in the fifth, then hit a run-scoring single in the sixth to cut the game to 7-5.

Somehow, the Raptors won by more than 10 runs yet again.

In between Williams’ single and grand slam in the seventh, shortstop Sal Gozzo roped a two-run double to right field. Cam Phelts laid down a scintillating bunt on two strikes that Idaho Falls first baseman Michael Kohn tried his best to glove toss home, but Dakota Conners slid into the plate safely ahead of the ball.

Nick Ultsch added a two-RBI single in the eighth for the final margin; he drove in four runs at the plate.

Marshall Shill, Brandon McCabe, Adam Scoggins and Dan Kubiuk pitched the final 3 2/3 shutout innings for Ogden, allowing two hits. Kubiuk struck out the side in the ninth.

The first-place Raptors next hit the road for nine games: three at Idaho Falls, three at Glacier and three at Missoula.

Starting at $4.32/week.
