Big 4th inning gets Ogden Raptors back in win column at Billings
The Ogden Raptors got seven of their 13 hits in the fourth inning, a six-run frame that led the visitors to a 10-5 victory Friday night at Billings.
Matthew Hess got the win on the mound for Ogden (35-41, 13-15 second half), allowing for runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The Raptors got to Mustangs (35-41, 13-15) starter Ethan Ross, who took the loss in three-plus innings.
True Fontenot sparked the big fourth inning with a leadoff triple. Connor Bagnieski singled him home. Pearce Howard hit a two-run single, and Elliott Good and Drew Brutcher each singled home one run to get Ogden ahead 8-0.
Hess allowed four hits through four scoreless innings but Billings got to him in the sixth with four singles and four runs charged to his ledger. Quinn Waterhouse took over and allowed one more run and the Mustangs had the score at 8-5.
Brutcher, who batted 3 for 5 to lead Ogden, got it to a comfortable 10-5 with a two-RBI single in the eighth inning.
Howard and Good each had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs for the Raptors. Shane Gustafson and Dylan Matsuoka combined to pitch two scoreless innings to close the game, allowing two hits, striking out three and walking zero.
The two teams play again at 6:35 p.m. Saturday.
