Boise pitchers ace Ogden Raptors in 11-0 shutout
Ogden’s offensive explosion last week at Grand Junction didn’t yet travel back to Utah for the Raptors’ home series against the Boise Hawks.
Ogden has scored one run over the first two games this week after Boise blanked the Raptors 11-0 on Wednesday night at Lindquist Field.
Mike Peterson got the win for Boise (20-12), allowing four hits in six innings while striking out four and walking two.
Evan Kowalski pitched the final three innings, holding Ogden to two hits while striking out one and walking zero.
The Raptors (13-19) hit 0 for 9 to lead off innings and were 1 for 13 with runners on base, including 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position. Designated hitter Nick Ultsch had two of his team’s six hits, including a double. Pearce Howard doubled in the fourth inning and was left on third base.
Troy Viola, meanwhile, homered twice for the Hawks and drove in three runs. Boise scored four runs against Ogden starter Matthew Hess in the first inning, which ended his night and set the tone for the game.
Boise hit six doubles, one triple and three home runs.
The two teams play again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
