It's nearly time for Pioneer League baseball and the Ogden Raptors are hosting two events this weekend to help usher in the 2024 season.

First, Fan Fest returns to Lindquist Field on Friday, May 17. Admission is free and food, drink and merchandise will be for sale.

Gates for Fan Fest open at 6 p.m. and fans can watch the final 30 minutes of Raptors spring training practice before players begin mingling with fans.

Interested swingers can again enter a fan home run derby which begins at 6:45 p.m. For $20, a hitter gets 10 swings off a pitching machine and a successful home run earns two season tickets. Multiple-homer hitters will compete for a derby trophy or plaque. The team says it's signing up participants over the phone at 801-393-2450.

Then at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the Raptors will face Florida's traveling Black Sox team for a seven-inning exhibition. Admission is free. Regardless of the score, the two teams will also contest a Knockout Round home run derby following seven innings.

The Ogden Raptors open the 2024 season in defense of their 2023 league championship on Tuesday, May 21, to begin a 12-game homestand at Lindquist Field. The season opener comes against the Northern Colorado Owlz as new manager Evan Parker makes his debut.

The Pioneer League schedule follows the same format as in previous years, with games (typically six-game series) held Tuesday through Sunday, with Monday off for travel.

Ogden's home games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. start times, with 2 p.m. games on Sundays.
