An Ogden Raptors player swings at a pitch on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Lindquist Field in Ogden. Both of Ogden’s top power hitters slugged two homers Sunday afternoon, leading the Raptors to a 23-9 blowout of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Lindquist Field and taking the week’s series 4-2.
The game concludes the week in which Ogden hosted Colorado Springs but played as the visitors due to a schedule conflict that moved the set to Lindquist Field. The two teams remain in Ogden for a regularly scheduled six-game series beginning Tuesday.
Chris Sargent, playing first base in the matinee, cracked two home runs to left field in the contest, two-run shots in both the first and fourth innings. The second longball put Ogden (35-30, 9-9 second half) ahead 8-1.
Connor Bagnieski drove in eight runs for the day, batting 3 for 6 with two home runs. That pushes his season HR total to 15, second-most on the club. His three-run homer in the sixth capped a seven-run inning and put the game away at 16-3. He added another three-run dinger in the ninth to get Ogden to 23 runs.
Sargent, meanwhile, got back in the homer column to run his season total to 27, nearing Ogden’s franchise record of 29 (Reese Alexiades, 2023). He’s third in the league in home runs but tops in RBIs with 105. The latter number puts him 20 RBIs from the league record (124, Rocky Mountain’s Steven Rivas, 2024) with 30 games left.
The Raptors used seven pitchers Sunday, with starter Chase Chatman (two innings), Christian Ciuffetelli (one) and Sean Wiese (one) completing scoreless appearances. Ogden cracked 24 hits against four Sky Sox pitchers.
True Fontenot hit 4 for 6 and scored five runs for Ogden. Elliott Good hit 4 for 5 with four RBIs. Cole Jordan hit a two-run homer.
TJ McKenzie homered for Colorado Springs (17-48, 8-10) while Christian Hall batted 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
With two-thirds of the season complete, Oakland (50-16, 13-5) and Missoula (45-21, 12-6) are still pacing the league. The first half’s champ and runner-up, who secured playoff births, are currently 1-2 in the second half with the Ballers on a five-game win streak.
If that were to hold, playoff berths would go to the two next-best overall records. Currently, that’s Idaho Falls (37-28) and Yuba-Sutter (37-29); Ogden is 1 1/2 games back from entering that picture.
