Ogden Raptors player Connor Bagnieski returns to second base and slides in a game against the Northern Colorado Owlz on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Connor Bagnieski hit a second-inning grand slam to help Ogden overcome an early Colorado Springs surge and the Raptors outpaced the Sky Sox 15-10 on Tuesday night to open a 12-game series between the two teams at Lindquist Field.

Ogden (32-28, 6-7 second half) plays through Sunday, Aug. 3, as the designated road team due to a Colorado Springs (15-45, 6-7) schedule conflict while the Sky Sox share a home with the Rocky Mountain Vibes. Seats this week are $5 general admission throughout Lindquist Field; tickets are available only at the ticket office during the day or at the gate one hour before game time.

Bagnieski’s slam, pulled to right field, got Raptors starter Chase Chatman off the hook after a four-run first. Highlighted by a TJ McKenzie two-run homer, the visiting home team pushed ahead 4-1 after one. The grand slam put Ogden ahead 6-4 midway through the second inning.

Ogden expanded that to 9-5 when Kenny Oyama swiped home, Cole Jordan hit a sacrifice fly and Bagnieski walked with the bases loaded.

The Sky Sox nearly had Chatman in trouble again when a Quintt Landis two-run homer to left cut Ogden’s lead to 9-8 through five innings. New Raptors singling outfielder Bradley Pelle got one back in the top of the sixth by singling in Oyama and Damian Stone’s two-run single in the top of the eighth had Ogden ahead 12-8.

Colorado Springs tallied two runs against Cam Edmondson in the bottom of the eighth but Pelle and Stone added RBI singles in the top of the ninth to stretch the lead to 15-10.

Nik Cardinal recorded his sixth save of the year, walking a Sky Sox player with two outs but otherwise pitching a clean ninth to close it.

The two teams play again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Starting at $4.32/week.
