Ogden catcher Chris Sargent added to his growing totals with two home runs and five RBIs, and the Raptors cruised to a 19-6 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Wednesday at Lindquist Field.
The game was the second of a six-game series in which the Raptors play as the visiting team while hosting the Sky Sox due to a schedule conflict. Seats this week are $5 general admission throughout Lindquist Field; tickets are available only at the ticket office during the day or at the gate one hour before game time.
A Kai Moody two-run triple had Colorado Springs (15-46, 6-8 second half) in business, tying the game 5-5 in the bottom of the third.
It was Sargent who broke the game open in the top of the sixth, going to left-center for a three-run shot to put Ogden (33-28, 7-7) ahead 10-5.
Then Sargent put the cherry on top of a five-run eighth with a two-run homer to left for the final tally.
The Sargent surge continues. His Wednesday performance gives the captain 10 home runs in his last 13 outings, moving his season total to 25. That moved him past Jakob Goldfarb (24, 2021) into sole possession of second place on Ogden’s all-time, single-season home run leaderboard. (Reese Alexiades, with 29 homers in 2023, holds the lead.) Sargent is also second in the Pioneer League this year.
Those five RBIs pushed his season total to 99. He’s 25 away from tying the PBL single-season record (Steven Rivas, Rocky Mountain, 124 in 2024) with 34 regular-season games to go.
Sargent’s first homer Wednesday sparked what became an eight-run sixth inning. Elliott Good, Kyler Stancato, Cole Jordan and Bradley Pelle all hit RBI singles while True Fontenot doubled in a run during the frame.
Of Ogden’s 24 hits, Pelle hit 5 for 6. Sargent and Kenny Oyama each batted 4 for 6 while Carmine Lane drove in three runs. Sargent is now hitting .386 for the season.
Cole Stasio got the win on the mound for the Raptors, allowing six runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out two and walking one.
The two teams play again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
