Ogden Raptors infielder Cole Jordan (3) celebrates in the dugout after scoring against Yuba-Sutter on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Charlie Updegrave has hit the ground running as a professional baseball player.

He hit a game-winning, two-run double Tuesday to open Ogden’s series in Boise and Wednesday, he opened the ledger with a three-run homer to get the Raptors out of the gate and on the way to an 11-4 victory over the Hawks at Memorial Stadium.

Updegrave played as the designated hitter after manning first base in his debut. Chris Sargent got a break from catching, meaning Carmine Lane was behind the dish instead of at third base. Lane seemed plenty comfortable, hitting 3 for 4 with three RBIs, all of which came on a three-run homer in the third that put Ogden (7-7) ahead 7-0.

Chase Chatman got the win on the mound for the Raptors, allowing three earned runs on four hits over five innings, striking out four and walking two. The Hawks (7-7) plated two runs in the third to make it 7-2 but RBI singles from Elliott Good and Kenny Oyama, and a run-scoring Cole Jordan double, made it 10-2 in the fifth — a frame during which Boise (and former Ogden) skipper Kash Beauchamp was ejected for arguing.

Ogden reliever Nico Saltaformaggio allowed one run on three hits in two innings before Shawn Triplett and Christian Ciuffetelli each pitched a 1-2-3 inning to close it out.

Ciuffetelli is a new addition who played at the University of Oregon, spent three years in the Washington Nationals system, pitched 15 innings for Missoula last season and two more for the Paddleheads this year before moving to the Raptors.

Ogden outhit Boise 16-7. Hawks shortstop Paul Myro IV hit 3 for 4 and drove in three of his team’s four runs.

The two teams play again at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.

The Rocky Mountain Vibes lead the Pioneer League with a 12-1 record after edging Yuba-Sutter by one run for the second straight night. Idaho Falls is 10-3, and Oakland and Yuba-Sutter are each 9-5.

Ogden, Boise and Glacier are all 7-7.

Starting at $4.32/week.
