By BRETT HEIN - Standard-Examiner | Jun 5, 2025

Cameron Dayton pitched into the eighth inning and led the homestanding Boise Hawks to an 8-0 shutout of the Ogden Raptors on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium, getting the Hawks on the board in the third game of the six-game series.

Dayton took a five-hit shutout through seven and recorded an out in the eighth before giving up a double to Ogden shortstop Elliott Good and calling it a night. Dayton struck out seven and walked two, totaling 93 pitches in his 7 1/3 innings.

Richard Dell finished the eighth and former Raptor reliever Quinn Waterhouse took the ninth, giving up a harmless two-out single to Damian Stone before closing the door.

The Raptors (7-8) got their leadoff hitter on base five times Thursday, all in the first five innings, but batted just 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position.

Ogden starter Eli Elliott kept pace early with a 0-0 shutout, allowing two hits through three innings but the Hawks (8-7) got to him with big swings in the fourth. Maxfield Jung-Goldberg left the yard with a solo homer and Jeremiah Begora smacked a three-run homer to put the home team ahead 4-0.

Brett Erwin pitched two scoreless but struggled in the seventh and Christian Griffin couldn’t save him. Noah Marcelo hit a two-run double, then stole third and scored on a Chris Sargent error trying to throw him out. Paul Myro IV drew a walk, stole second, and later scored on a wild pitch for a four-run seventh to make it 8-0.

Boise outhit Ogden 11-7. Good’s eighth-inning double to chase Dayton was the Raptors’ only extra-base hit of the night. Good and Kenny Oyama each hit 2 for 3.

Catcher JC Santini led the Hawks with a 3-for-4 night at the plate.

Boise had 3,819 in attendance for the quick game of 2 hours, 19 minutes.

The two teams play again at 7:05 p.m. Friday.

Starting at $4.32/week.
