Ogden Raptors True Fontenot (28) and Maikol Perez (51) celebrate scoring runs on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

The Ogden Raptors made quick work (figuratively and measurably) of the last-place Great Falls Voyagers to start the week, capping a three-game sweep with a 9-6 win over the visitors Thursday at Lindquist Field.

The victory improves Ogden to 11-10 on the year, the team’s first venture above .500 since starting 2-1. Great Falls is now 2-19.

The Raptors outscored the Voyagers 40-8 in the three games and also wrapped up those contests with an average game time of 2 hours and 31 minutes.

The Oakland Ballers, now in their second year of operation and second in the Pioneer Baseball League, make their first visit to Lindquist Field with games Friday through Sunday. Ogden opened the season splitting six games in Oakland and the Ballers arrived Friday with a 13-8 record.

While Thursday’s game was more competitive than the first two — the contest was tied 3-3 after two innings — the Raptors got a third straight shutdown string of innings from the bullpen to help seal the deal. Ultimately, Cole Jordan’s RBI double to score Elliott Good in the fourth inning for a 7-3 lead proved to be enough. Jordan finished 3 for 5 at the plate.

Nico Saltaformaggio took over for Ogden starter Shane Gustafson in the fifth and, though an inherited baserunner scored on a flyout, tossed perfect innings in the fifth and sixth with two strikeouts.

For the second straight night, Christian Ciuffetelli and Nik Cardinal took care of the seventh and ninth innings with little trouble. Jestin Jones pitched the eighth with a 9-5 lead and cleaned up two singles and a walk with only one run’s worth of damage.

Dylan Wilkinson, who played second base Thursday, continued his upward trend after settling in from joining the team nine games ago. He batted 2 for 5 with two doubles, scored three runs, and drove in two with a first-inning double to get things going. He’s now batting .323 this season and helped answer a first-inning solo homer from Voyagers designated hitter Roman Kuntz.

Same for outfielder Kyler Stancato, who doubled in two runs in the third and drove in three on the night.

Great Falls cut it to 7-5 with the aforementioned sacrifice fly, allowed by Saltaformaggio and charged to Gustafson, in the top of the fifth. Gustafson allowed five run on five hits in his four-plus frames, striking out six and walking three.

Stancato plated Wilkinson on a fielder’s choice, scoring Wilkinson safe at the plate in the fifth, for an 8-5 margin. Newcomer Evan Blum, playing left field Thursday, added a solo home run to left in the seventh. Blum came to the Raptors after 47 games (42 last season, five this season) in Billings.

Nate Madej took the loss for Great Falls, allowing eight runs on eight hits in five innings.

Elsewhere Thursday, Idaho Falls took sole possession of first place at 16-4 after blasting Boise (11-10) while Rocky Mountain (15-5) lost in a Knockout Round derby to Billings (10-11). Missoula (15-6) held on to third place by defeating Oakland (13-8) in two rounds of Knockout Derby in Missoula.

Starting at $4.32/week.
