Gloves are popping, bats are cracking and baseballs are flying at Lindquist Field, signaling the return of the Ogden Raptors as the season nears.

A roster of signed players and camp invites are currently in preseason camp at the downtown Ogden field, and fans can get a first look at the 2025 Raptors at the ballpark Saturday with the return of Raptors Fan Fest.

Lindquist Field gates open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with free admission.

The first event is the fan home run derby; interested hitters can call the Raptors to sign up at a cost of $20 to participate, with successful home-run hitters claiming a pair of season tickets.

The Raptors will then play a scrimmage, capped with a practice round of the Knockout Derby tiebreaker event.

Concessions and merchandise will be sold, and players will be available in a meet-and-greet setting, general manager Trever Wilson said.

SOME DATES TO KNOW

While other special promotions and dates may be announced later, here’s a quick look at some important dates the team provided for the 2025 season.

May 17: Raptors Fan Fest

May 20: Season opener at Oakland

May 27: Home opener at Lindquist Field — free cap giveaway (Tuesday promotion, see below) with “The Major” American flag used for the national anthem.

June 25: Hill Air Force Base appreciation night

July 12: “Guns versus hoses”: Ogden City police and fire departments square off in a softball game preceding the night’s Raptors baseball game

WHAT’S NEW AT THE PARK

While free-food Sunday (again, see promotions below) is likely an attention-getter, Wilson said the team will also offer focused concession offerings based on location.

For example, the concession stand on the first-base side of the concourse will be for “value items” at $4 or less. Another stand will feature fried food staples like chicken strips, corn dogs and fries, while a “sweets shop” will focus more on items like ice cream.

Down the first-base line, the O-Town Beach Club returns with its specialized alcohol menu and its food offerings like steak, salmon, fajitas, quesadillas and Philly cheese steaks. But the club will now offer a food-only service window for fans to order food without entering the 21-and-older setting, Wilson said.

Otherwise, Wilson said the team has upgraded umbrellas and shades around the park, and added screens at concession stands that will display the game’s live stream for those in line.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE LEAGUE

The 12-team Pioneer Baseball League is mostly static after welcoming two California expansion squads in 2024. One change came for the Yolo High Wheelers; after winning the PBL championship in the California club’s first season, the team moved away from playing at UC Davis outside of Sacramento and went about an hour’s drive north to Marysville, near Yuba City.

Playing at Bryant Field, capacity 4,000, that team is now the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers.

The other expansion team, the Oakland Ballers, signed a 10-year extension with the city this week to continue playing at Raimondi Park.

DAILY PROMOTIONS

Below is a list of daily promotions for Ogden home games, as provided by the team.

Tuesday: The first 300 fans will receive a free baseball cap. Bank of Utah customers (by displaying a debit/credit card) can get up to eight reserved seats for $5 apiece.

Wednesday: $2 hot dogs. Wells Fargo customers (by displaying a debit/credit card) can get up to eight reserved seats for $5 apiece.

Thursday: Thirsty Thursday returns with $2 canned domestic beer and half-price soft drinks. America First Credit Union customers (by displaying a debit/credit card) can get up to eight reserved seats for $5 apiece.

Friday: First 300 fans receive a free Raptors T-shirt.

Saturday: First 300-500 fans receive a free mystery item.

Sunday: Select food items are free. Information provided by the team lists hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, brats and popcorn as free items.

While reserved box-seat tickets range from $12-19 based on date and seat location, Wilson said all Sunday single-game tickets will sell for $17. A fan redeeming the offer for free food can pick up two items per visit to a concession stand, he said.

SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN

Raptors’ home games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with 1 p.m. starts on Sundays. There are no Monday games on Ogden’s 2025 schedule, road or away.

The Raptors play alternating series of six-game road trips followed by six-game homestands throughout the season.

Ogden gets its first looks at Oakland and Yuba-Sutter, who the Raptors did not play in 2024. Yuba-Sutter comes to town for the home-opening series May 27 through June 1. While the Raptors open the season in Oakland, the Ballers do visit Lindquist Field for three games June 13-15.

A more regionalized schedule will see the Raptors play 54 of their 96 games against three opponents: 18 games each against Boise, Idaho Falls and Northern Colorado.

Ogden plays Oakland nine times.

The Raptors will play six games apiece against Grand Junction, Great Falls, Missoula, Rocky Mountain and Yuba-Sutter, while facing Billings (on the road) for three games. Ogden will not face Glacier in the regular season.

Boise and Northern Colorado will be the most common opponents visiting Lindquist Field this season at 12 games apiece. Missoula, Rocky Mountain and Yuba-Sutter each visit Ogden for six games, while Great Falls and Oakland come to Lindquist Field for three games apiece.

All 18 games against Idaho Falls are on the road.

Starting at $4.32/week.
