Ogden Raptors third baseman Carmine Lane rises to throw across the diamond against Yuba-Sutter on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Ogden piled eight runs on Yuba-Sutter through two innings Thursday and two home run from third baseman Carmine Lane put the High Wheelers away, getting the Raptors back in the win column in a Pioneer League matchup in front of 3,416 fans at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Ogden (4-5) did fall behind 1-0 with Eli Elliott starting on the hill but he quickly got plenty of run support. Four hits and two walks helped the Raptors gain a 5-1 lead after one frame, keyed by a two-run Chris Sargent single.

Ogden kept going in the second with RBI singles from Connor Bagnieski and Carter Mize, and helped by three of Yuba-Sutter’s five errors in the game, to make it 8-2 through two innings.

The High Wheelers (7-2) got the score to 8-5 with a two-run Parker Coddou double in the third inning. But Lane hit the first of his homers with a two-run shot in the fourth to make it 10-5.

Elliott’s night ended for Ogden after four innings and Brett Erwin tossed two important shutout innings in the fifth and sixth. That amplified his Raptor teammates at the plate; Cole Jordan doubled in Damian Stone in the fifth and Lane echoed his fourth-inning shot with a two-run homer in the sixth to put the Raptors up 13-5.

Yuba-Sutter got to Shawn Triplett for three runs in the seventh, accounting for the final score, but Cameron Edmondon and Nik Cardinal allowed one combined hit in the final two innings to put a bow on the win.

The two teams play again at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Yuba-Sutter and Idaho Falls lead the league at 7-2, with Rocky Mountain’s 6-1 record getting back into action after several days off with doubleheaders Friday and Saturday at Northern Colorado.

Starting at $4.32/week.
