The Ogden Raptors watch from the dugout during the season opener against the Oakland Ballers on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Raimondi Park in Oakland, Calif. The Ogden Raptors are 1-6 since signing off star catcher Chris Sargent to the Padres but still control their playoff destiny entering the final week of the regular season.
The Raptors suffered a walk-off loss Sunday to close three games in Idaho Falls and return to Lindquist Field this week, hosting the Boise Hawks from Tuesday through Sunday.
The upcoming homestand includes fan appreciation night on Saturday, which features a pregame concert (4-6 p.m.), a flag ceremony with The Major, live music at night, and tributes to servicemembers, police and first responders.
Oakland (69-21) and Missoula (61-29) clinched playoff berths from the first half and are now officially locked into 1-2 in overall standings. The final two playoff spots go to the teams with the third- and fourth-best overall records.
After winning the weekend series 2-1 over Ogden (48-41), Idaho Falls (51-38) has a three-game lead on the Raptors for third place. Idaho Falls hosts 10th-place Glacier (37-53) to close the regular season.
Ogden hosts sixth-place Boise (46-44) in a matchup between two of the five teams still mathematically alive to claim fourth place. The Raptors and Hawks are 6-6 in the season series so far.
Yuba-Sutter (47-43) is only 1 1/2 games behind Ogden in the chase. The High Wheelers do finish the season against Missoula, though it’s unclear if the Paddleheads will compete as normal or rest up for the playoffs.
Rocky Mountain (44-44) and Billings (43-47) are both on six-game winning streaks, though Billings, 5 1/2 back of Ogden, would need a perfect storm to make the playoffs. Rocky Mountain, only 3 1/2 back, plays ninth-place Grand Junction (38-52) to end the season.
Whoever claims the final playoff spots will play best-of-three series at Oakland or Missoula from Sept. 11-13. The best-of-five championship series is scheduled for Sept. 16-21.
SUN: CHUKARS 8, RAPTORS 7
With Yuba-Sutter and Boise losing, Ogden had a chance to bump one game ahead in the playoff race Sunday but instead walked across the winning run to lose the game and the short series to Idaho Falls.
Connor Bagnieski hit 3 for 5 with three RBIs, including an early two-run homer, to help the Raptors to a 6-2 lead through three innings.
Trevor Rogers and Thomas McCaffrey hit solo homers in the fifth, and Gabriel Vasquez hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth to tie it up 6-6 for the Chukars.
Ogden got help in the ninth when Carmine Lane struck out but reached on a dropped third strike to open the inning. He came around to score on a Dylan Wilkinson single; Elliott Good was left on second base with one out, but the Raptors had a 7-6 lead.
Nik Cardinal, who was untouchable early in the season as Ogden’s closer, took the ball and gave up two singles, walked two and hit one batter. Wilkinson threw out a runner stealing, so all that action meant a 7-7 game with the bases loaded and two outs. Cardinal walked Idaho Falls outfielder Tyler Wyatt to send in the winning run.
FRI: RAPTORS 8, CHUKARS 7
Ogden’s only win of the week came Friday to open the three-game set in Idaho Falls.

Eli Elliott had the good thing going on the mound but the Chukars got to him in the sixth when Anthony Mata tripled in two runs and scored on a wild pitch, closing the score to 8-6 and sending Elliott off.
Nico Saltaformaggio and Cameron Edmondson combined for 2 1/3 scoreless, hitless frames to get to the ninth, where Cardinal had to dance out of trouble.
After a single and a strikeout, Cardinal walked Gabriel Vasquez on a wild pitch that scored a run to make it 8-7. Vasquez took second on an out and third on another wild pitch, but Cardinal him there by striking out Spencer Rich to end the game.
