Missoula crushes Raptors in 26-2 drubbing Wednesday
It felt important when Missoula threw out Ogden Raptors baserunners at home plate in each of the third and fourth innings.
It wasn’t.
The visiting Paddleheads racked up 22 hits and used a 12-run seventh inning to blast the Raptors 26-2 in the second game of a six-game series Wednesday at Lindquist Field.
Ryan Wentz, meanwhile, tossed a Pioneer League gem. The Missoula (4-4) starter held Ogden (3-5) to one run on six hits, striking out eight and walking one in seven innings.
Ogden’s RBI leader, Cole Jordan, added his 12th of the season with a run-scoring double in the third, making the score 2-1. The Raptors wouldn’t push another run across until the eighth inning, by then trailing 23-1, when Chase Valentine scored Dylan Wilkinson on a sacrifice fly.
Missoula first baseman Tyler Stone raked for the visitors, going 4 for 5 with seven RBIs and four runs scored, including a three-run homer and two doubles. The Paddleheads totaled nine extra-base hits, including four home runs.
