The pro race tour arrives in Syracuse on Friday through Sunday (Aug. 7-9) at the city’s two-year-old Antelope BMX course (2261 W. 3060 South).

The nine races designated on the PRO schedule help determine top riders who will compete at the Race of Champions held Nov. 25-29, 2026, in Oklahoma, “bringing the world’s top professional racers to center stage,” a news release reads. “Designed to showcase elite talent and inspire the next generation of riders, the Pro Series elevates every stop it touches, delivering world-class racing for fans across the country.”

Races begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.

“As Utah’s newest BMX track, we are thrilled to welcome racers and their families to our track, ” said Zach Randall, track operator at Antelope BMX, in a news release. “Our crew at Antelope BMX have been working tirelessly preparing to welcome the BMX world to our track for the Great Salt Lake Nationals. We can’t wait to see the best riders from around the country put down fast laps on our track!”

USA BMX says admission is free but parking is $10 per day.

For racing, BMX bicycles are small bikes designed to compete on “motocross” style tracks (differing from BMX bikes designed for street- or park-style trick competitions).

Syracuse alum named to national watchlist

Utah State senior and former Syracuse High standout Brevin Hamblin has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

The Nagurski Trophy is awarded each year to the nation’s top defensive player as voted by the Football Writers Association of America.

Hamblin started in 12 games last year at Utah State, totaling 114 tackles and returning one interception returned for a touchdown. He added 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

At BYU, safety and Bountiful native Faletau Satuala was added to the Nagurski watch list with linebackers Isaiah Glasker and Cade Uluave.

Utah State opens its 2026 season hosting Idaho State on Sept. 5.

Former WSU soccer player signs in Utah

Former Weber State women’s soccer player Ali Swensen signed a pro contract with her hometown Utah Royals FC in the National Women’s Soccer League, the team announced Tuesday.

Swensen, a native of Salt Lake City, will play the remainder of the 2026 season with the Royals. She’s been with the team as a practice player and earned a contract to move up to the active roster.

As a defender, Swensen totaled seven goals and five assists in three seasons at Weber State (2022-24). She finished her college career at the University of Utah in 2025, adding two goals and one assist.
