Next Holy War football date set as Big 12 finalizes BYU, Utah schedules
The next edition of the football rivalry between BYU and Utah has a date after the Big 12 Conference released league schedules for the 2026 season.
The game, often dubbed the “Holy War,” is set for Nov. 7 in Salt Lake City. BYU has won the last three matchups following nine straight from Utah before that.
Both teams are coming off double-digit wins in 2025. No. 11 BYU finished 12-2 after defeating Georgia Tech 25-21 in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. No. 14 Utah went 11-2 after trouncing Nebraska 44-22 in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Kalani Sitake enters his 11th season as BYU’s head coach while Utah hands the wheel to Morgan Scalley after 22 seasons with Kyle Whittingham at the helm.
Some games may be moved to Friday dates and kickoff times will come at a later date as ESPN, FOX and TNT make their TV selections.
Neither team plays defending Big 12 champion Texas Tech. Both play seven home games; Utah opens with four of its first five in Salt Lake. The Big 12 Championship Game is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4.
