The majority of available volunteer positions are on-course marshals (controlling play, managing spectators, ball spotting and managing crowd noise), and standard bearers (scoring and updating the live spectator scoreboards from hole to hole), Utah Sports Commission spokesperson Zachary Brinchi told the Standard-Examiner on Monday. Additional positions, including hospitality and ticketing, are available as well for seniors or volunteers with disabilities.

All volunteers receive a shirt, hat, meals and two grounds tickets at no cost. Any volunteer signing up for two or more shifts is eligible for a free round of golf at Ogden Golf and Country Club during a “volunteer round,” to be scheduled at a later date, Brinchi said.

“It’s a great way to come out, volunteer, see the course and experience everything that the tournament brings,” Brinchi said. “I think the golf tournament, for us, it’s such an important part of what the Utah Championship is aiming to do in this area. It’s a community event at the end of the day. Yes, there’s a professional golf tournament attached to it, but we’re really celebrating what we’re doing and bringing into the community and I think it’s a really fun experience for people to be able to say that this tournament is in their backyard.”

The Utah Championship, one of the original stops on the Korn Ferry Tour, officially moved to Ogden from Farmington in 2025 with the tournament’s 34th edition. Last year’s champion, Julian Suri, took home a grand prize of $180,000 from the tournament’s $1 million purse.
