Zach Booth, a midfielder for hometown Real Salt Lake, scored his first MLS goal Saturday when RSL played to a 1-1 draw with Minnesota United (that after Minnesota netted in stoppage time to equalize).
Booth, 22 of Eden, put in his big marker in the 22nd minute, assisted by young star Zavier Gozo, the 19-year-old burgeoning phenom from West Valley City.
It’s Booth’s first professional season in the United States after parts of five seasons in Europe. He appeared in 17 matches over three seasons with Leicester City in England’s second pro division.
He then played in parts of three seasons in the Netherlands, most recently with Excelsior. Booth is on loan from the Rotterdam-based club to play the 2026 season with RSL. He’s appeared in eight matches with four starts for the home squad.
His older brother, Taylor Booth, is in his seventh professional season. After three years in Germany and Austria for Bundesliga-based clubs, Taylor Booth is in his fourth year in the Netherlands, currently playing with Twente.
Neither brother, nor Gozo or RSL teammate Diego Luna, got the nod for the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the 2026 World Cup, according to reports from ESPN and The Guardian. Luna was a surprise omission, with Gozo somewhat so.
With 26 points (8-4-2), RSL is currently third in the Western Conference.
