Prep basketball roundup: Jones double-double leads Bonneville boys over Provo

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Carson Jones posted a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds as Bonneville High boys basketball opened its season with a 54-33 win over Provo.

Miwa Brown added 10 points and seven rebounds for Bonneville (1-0).

WEBER 67, NORTHRIDGE 59

PLEASANT VIEW — Tukker Higgs scored 18 points with five 3-pointers to lead Weber past Northridge.

Hunter Schenck netted 14 points for Weber (1-0). Ethan Shupe scored 11 points and Cannon DeVries added 10.

Sam Sivulich led all scorers with 22 points for Northridge (0-1). Kade Sparrow scored 14 points.

VIEWMONT 62, CLEARFIELD 55 (2OT)

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield led by seven early in the fourth quarter but Viewmont scored 19 points in the frame to force extra basketball, and won the second overtime period 10-3 to claim the win.

Zach Robinson shot 9 of 10 from the foul line to lead Viewmont (1-0) with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Radek Pulsipher added 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists, and Caden Lauder hit three 3s for nine points.

Austin Mitchell totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds for Clearfield (0-1). Dawson Gardner added 15 points and eight rebounds. Viewmont shot 10 of 32 from deep and Clearfield just 1 of 11.

FARMINGTON 67, EAST 46

SALT LAKE CITY — BYU signee Collin Chandler scored 20 points to lead Farmington to a season-opening win at East. Chandler scored all 20 points in the first three quarters.

Paul Beattie scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter for the Phoenix (1-0) and Easton Ralphs added 10 points.

COPPER HILLS 62, LAYTON 44

WEST JORDAN — Mekhi Martin scored 12 points as Layton fell at Copper Hills.

Connor Wilson, KJ Miller and Elias Parkinson each scored seven points for Layton (0-1).

KEARNS 78, BEAR RIVER 61

KEARNS — Gherig Marble scored a game-high 22 points but Bear River trailed 51-28 at the half in a season-opening loss at Kearns (1-0).

Kyver Jensen and Kaleb Barfuss each added 13 points for Bear River (0-1).

WOODS CROSS — Lauryn Hall scored a game-high 21 points with three 3-pointers to lead Layton to a road win.

Jayden Seegmiller added eight points for the Lancers (1-0).

Sophia Mokofisi led Woods Cross (0-1) with 10 points while Georgia Hatton and Kenna Cowley each scored nine.

SYRACUSE 53, BONNEVILLE 41

SYRACUSE — Gracie Sorenson scored 13 points to lead Syracuse to a season-opening win over Bonneville.

Skylee Hopkins added 11 points for Syracuse (1-0).

Courtnie Porter scored a game-high 19 points for Bonneville (0-1). Libby Jensen added 10 points.

NORTHRIDGE 46, CLEARFIELD 25

CLEARFIELD — Kaylee Hess scored 15 points with three 3-pointers for Northridge in its win at Clearfield (0-1).

Hali’a Mislang-Darden added 11 points for the Knights (1-0).

Clearfield’s Miranda Mansfield led all scorers with 18 points.

ROY 55, OGDEN 41

ROY — Sha’Kyra Joiner scored 17 points as Roy downed Ogden in the Royals’ opener.

Sha’Keria Joiner added 11 points for Roy (1-0).

Ashley Christensen led Ogden (1-1) with 16 points and Lucy Ballard chipped in eight points.

BOUNTIFUL 66, PROVO 53

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful led 20-6 after the first quarter in a season-opening win.

Freshman Taylor Harvey led a trio of double-digit scorers with 19 points for the Redhawks (1-0). Lizzy McConkie scored 15 with an 8-of-10 mark at the free-throw line and Claire Cook added 13 points.

ROCKWELL 40, BEN LOMOND 35

OGDEN — Ben Lomond led 28-23 after three quarters but was outscored 17-7 in the final frame in a home loss to Rockwell (1-0).

Avery Beadles led Ben Lomond (0-1) with 13 points.

MOUNTAIN CREST 52, VIEWMONT 50

BOUNTIFUL — Viewmont was outscored 18-9 in the fourth quarter in a home loss. Grace Mackay led the Vikings (0-1) with 17 points, Emma Mulitalo scored 14 and Kaylee Smith added 11.
