Weber State men’s basketball postponed Saturday vs. EWU; Thursday vs. Idaho still planned

By Brett Hein - | Jan 10, 2022

Weber State men’s basketball has another game postponement, and it affects this week’s home slate.

COVID issues at Eastern Washington have caused their two contests this week to be postponed, including Saturday’s game at Weber State.

The EWU-WSU game has been rescheduled to Monday, Jan. 31, in Ogden. A release from WSU says tickets to the originally scheduled date will be honored for the new date. Weber did not play Eastern last season due to COVID issues in EWU’s program.

Thursday’s 7 p.m. home game against Idaho is still scheduled.

It’s the second postponement for Weber State (10-5, 3-1 Big Sky) so far. A game scheduled Saturday, Jan. 8, at Idaho State was postponed due to issues at ISU and has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 17. The Wildcats and the Bengals also did not play each other last season due to COVID issues at ISU.

As of now, Weber State will host Idaho this Thursday, then play Idaho State twice — at ISU on Jan. 17, and in Ogden on Thursday, Jan. 20.

Assuming future games remain intact — which might be a stretch at this point — the rescheduled EWU game creates a two-week gauntlet for the Wildcats. They’re slated to play road games at Southern Utah, Northern Colorado and Sacramento State in one week from Jan. 24-29, then return to Ogden for a three-game week at home against EWU, Montana and Montana State from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5.

Those two weeks will feature four games in eight days in four different cities, and six games over a total of 13 days.
