The Big Sky Conference released its preseason all-conference teams Thursday for the upcoming 2022-23 men’s and women’s basketball seasons, as voted by media members.

For Weber State, third-year forward Dillon Jones was named to the men’s preseason team and for the WSU women, senior forward Daryn Hickok got the same nod.

Jones comes off a season where he was seventh nationally in rebounding at 10.6 per game and was the only player under 6-foot-7 in the national top 20. He was also 10th nationally in double-doubles with 17, averaging 12.6 points per game while shooting 54.1% from the field.

Reigning league MVP Jubrile Belo was voted as such for this year’s preseason men’s team as well. He was the only unanimous selection to the men’s team. Belo and Jones are joined on the team by Northern Colorado guard Daylen Kountz (the league’s reigning scoring champ), Eastern Washington guard Steele Venters, Montana forward Josh Bannan and Northern Arizona guard Jalen Cone.

In Wednesday’s team preseason polls, Weber State was voted fourth by coaches and media.

For the women, Hickok led Weber State in scoring last season at 15.2 points per game and was second with 7.2 rebounds per game.

Montana State guard Darian White was named the women’s preseason MVP. She was the league’s co-defensive player of the year and the conference tournament MVP last season.

Joining Hickok and White are Idaho’s Beyonce Bea, Sacramento State’s Isnelle Natabou, Montana’s Carmen Gfeller, Northern Colorado’s Hannah Simental and Montana State’s Kola Bad Bear.

White and Bea were unanimous selections.

The women’s preseason team had seven players instead of the usual six due to a tie for the last player in.

In Wednesday’s team preseason polls, the WSU women were voted seventh by coaches and ninth by media voters.
