Weber State women’s basketball fell to 0-3 on the young season with a lopsided loss Monday night at Boise State.

The Broncos (2-0), picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West, built a 25-9 lead after one quarter and cruised the rest of the night on the way to a 76-47 victory over Weber State.

BSU built a 64-35 lead through three quarters. Jadyn Matthews scored the game’s first points for Weber State, then Boise answered with a 13-0 run.

WSU played to a 12-12 tie in the fourth despite not making a field goal for the final five minutes.

Sophomore center Amelia Raidaveta led Weber State with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, adding six rebounds. Senior Daryn Hickok added nine points and six rebounds on 4-of-9 shooting. The rest of the team shot 10 of 36.

Senior Laura Taylor added seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

Boise State had four double-digit scorers, led by Dani Bayes totaling 13 points and four steals. She made three 3-pointers. The Broncos shot 49.2% from the field, including a 10-of-24 mark from the 3-point line. WSU shot 3 of 14 from deep.

Weber State lost the turnover battle; BSU scored 28 points off 23 turnovers, while WSU totaled five points off 16 turnovers.

The Wildcats get a decent shot at picking up the first win in the Jenteal Jackson era with a trip Friday to Utah State. After going 4-26 last season, the Aggies are 0-2 so far this season, including a 36-point home loss to Eastern Washington. USU also lost its exhibition to Division II Fort Lewis, the same team WSU beat by 15 in its exhibition.
