Big Sky schedules set for Weber State basketball 2024-25 seasons
Weber State men’s and women’s basketball teams learned Thursday their 18-game Big Sky Conference schedules for the 2024-25 season.
The conference season begins with games Thursday, Jan. 2, and Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. The regular season concludes Monday, March 3. The Big Sky Championships are scheduled for Saturday, March 8, through Wednesday, March 12, in Boise, Idaho.
As usual, the men’s and women’s schedules are mirrored: when one is at home, the other is on the road on the same date against the same opponent.
The men open with three straight road games (Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, Idaho State), and five of the first seven away from home, with the second Thursday of the conference season serving as an early bye.
That means the women open with those three teams at home, and five of the first seven at home.
The WSU men first play Big Sky home games Jan. 16 and Jan. 18 against Montana and Montana State.
Each team plays three games in five days on two occasions, both ending on a Monday. For the men, the first comes as part of a stretch of four straight home games from Jan. 30 to Feb. 8 (thus, the women have four straight road games).
The second three-in-five concludes the regular season; the men play in three cities in three days, finishing at Eastern Washington (Feb. 27), at Idaho (March 1), and home to Northern Colorado (March 3).
In an incomplete picture of nonconference play, the Weber State men are scheduled to play road games at Oregon, Oregon State, Nevada and Utah Tech. WSU has a home game against Utah Valley on the books, and will play one of the yet-to-be-announced pair of games in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge at home.
The WSU men are coming off a fourth-place finish and first-game exit to eventual tournament champs Montana State, who has won the tournament three straight years. Eastern Washington is a two-time defending regular-season champion with consecutive first-game tournament exits.
Neither WSU men’s or women’s teams have announced their nonconference schedules. The regular season can begin as early as Monday, Nov. 4; both teams are likely to play home exhibitions in late October.
