The decision gave a first win to Oregon’s new head coach Tracy Joyner while handing Weber State’s new coach, Kyle Christensen, his first defeat.
The Ducks racked up 10 shots on goal, breaking the ice in the 19th minute when one of Maya Cordova’s six saves still resulted in an Oregon score. Cordova’s diving save of a deep one-timer banged off the post and out to UO’s Sydney Chura, who popped the ball up toward the goal for Taylor Bryan to head into a mostly open net.
Miya Alamares scored in the 30th minute for a 2-0 halftime lead. Oregon added second-half goals from Bryan in the 66th minute and Lauren Kenny in the 80th minute.
Weber State wasn’t without its chances, forcing Oregon keeper Caeley Goldstein into seven saves. WSU had those seven shots on frame while matching the Ducks with seven corner kicks. Sayler Schlosser and Lily Blum each took three shots of WSU’s 13 total.
WSU remains in the Beaver State by going 50 miles north to visit the Beavers of Oregon State in a match scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday. That will stream on ESPN+.
