Weber State football names captains for 2025 season
Three seniors, one junior to lead Wildcats this season

Wildcat senior fullback Colter May, senior offensive lineman Gavin Ortega, senior wide receiver Jayleen Record, and junior defensive tackle Keahnist Thompson will be the team captains for the 2025 season.
Colter May is in his sixth season with the Wildcat program in 2025. He is one of three players still on the roster from the spring 2021 team that won the Big Sky Championship. May enters 2025 having played in 31 career games as a Wildcat. The Heyburn, Idaho, native was picked as a preseason All-Big Sky selection at fullback this season.
Gavin Ortega is a senior on the Wildcat offensive line out of Bellingham, Washington. Ortega was a preseason All-Big Sky and All-America selection this season and is the only Wildcat returning that earned All-Big Sky honors last season. He enters the 2025 season having played in 29 games over the last three seasons as a Wildcat.
Jayleen Record is a Wildcat team captain for the second consecutive season, having been selected in 2024. Record, a native of Dallas, Texas, and a transfer from SMU, is entering his third season at Weber State and has played in 22 games. He enters 2025 with 35 receptions for 475 yards and seven touchdowns.
Keahnist Thompson is a junior defensive end from Lakeland, Florida, and a transfer from Central Florida. This will be his third season at Weber State, and he has played in 19 games over the last two seasons. He enters 2025 with 36 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
Weber State kicks off the season on August 30 at James Madison. The Wildcats will have their first three games on the road before the home opener on September 20 against Butler.
