The teams announced an upcoming football series that will take Weber State to Fargo on Sept. 11, 2027, and see the Bison return the trip to Ogden on Sept. 15, 2029.
NDSU has won 10 of the last 14 FCS national titles. The two teams played series in 2004-05 and 2014-15.
The last time NDSU came to Ogden, it was No. 1 North Dakota State taking down Weber State 24-7 in the 2014 home coaching debut of Jay Hill. Weber State drew 14,577 fans to that game, the program’s second-highest attendance mark this century; WSU’s attendance record of 17,593 came in 2005 against Western State in the home coaching debut of Ron McBride.
When the two sides set up the deal, it appeared to complete Weber State’s football schedules for both the 2027 and 2029 seasons — but that may not be true, depending on a couple factors.
First, WSU has nonconference games set with Southern Utah in those seasons but SUU is now joining the Big Sky in 2026. Those games, part of a six-game series slated to start in 2026, may or may not be able to remain as nonconference matchups.
Second, there’s a pending proposal to permanently increase the number of FCS regular-season games from 11 to 12; that could either have teams seeking an extra nonconference game or see the Big Sky increase the number of conference games from eight to nine.
As things stand at this moment, here are Weber State football’s future nonconference matchups.
2025: at James Madison, at Arizona, at McNeese, vs. Butler
2026: at Southern Utah, at Colorado, vs. Northwestern State
