Transfer portal update: Weber State up to 9 outgoing players as portal officially opens

Weber State guard Duce Paschal (9) drives baseline against Northern Arizona's Diego Campisano during a Big Sky Conference game Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. The transfer portal officially opened Tuesday for men’s college basketball and, as one might expect after a coaching change, Weber State is officially facing an entire rebuild.
After just one day and into Wednesday morning, Verbal Commits reported more than 1,800 players who listed their names in the national transfer database. The latest for Weber State are freshmen guards Duce Paschal and Anthony Moore, who submitted their names on the first day.
That leaves the Wildcats, for now, with just three scholarship players from last season who haven’t entered their names as Kaleb Canales is mere days into his tenure as the 11th head coach in WSU’s Division I history. (Those three players are ArDarius Grayson, Declan Cutler and Bourgeois Tshilobo; the portal is open until April 21.)
Of note, scoring leader Tijan Saine Jr. is reporting interest from Cal, UCLA, Kansas State, UNLV and others, he reported to several transfer sites Wednesday morning.
WSU is hardly alone.
Montana, with 12-year coaching veteran Travis DeCuire, has just four tentative returners from the recently concluded season. Portland State, winners of the Big Sky regular season for the first time in nearly two decades, has stars Jaylin Henderson and Terri Miller Jr. in the portal while seeking never-ending eligibility. And Idaho, which reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 36 years, has six players in the portal, including Kolton Mitchell, Jackson Rasmussen and Jack Payne.
In the morning hours Wednesday, Rob Wright III and Dominique Diomande announced they’re leaving BYU, while Utah guard Terrence Brown, a 20-point-per-game scorer over the last two seasons, is headed elsewhere.
Utah State got Karson Templin, who previously said he’d enter the portal, to remain with the team under new head coach Ben Jacobson, and Mason Falslev is also pledged to remain an Aggie. But USU has six other players leaving, along with five outgoing seniors.
Several former Northern Utah preps are also seeking new teams. Utah Tech will say goodbye to Chance Trujillo (Davis) and Hunter Schenck (Weber); the latter is already committed to Salt Lake Community College. Former Syracuse star Kaden Erickson is also leaving Northern Colorado after redshirting the 2025-26 season.
