Weber State basketball netted its second commitment from a Division I transfer in as many days on Monday evening.
New Mexico guard Sir Marius Jones announced his pledge on Instagram to give head coach Kaleb Canales the second addition of his new tenure.
Jones is a 6-foot-4 guard from Sacramento, California. He redshirted as a freshman for the Lobos last season and has four years left to play.
Jones was a two-time Sacramento Player of the Year at Sacramento High, scoring 21 points per game in each of his last two seasons. He was named third-team All-State for California as a senior and signed with New Mexico after originally committing to UC Irvine.
He follows the commitment of Rice transfer guard Aaron Powell on Sunday. Powell, a Los Angeles native, played off the bench as a freshman and redshirted the 2025-26 season, giving him three years remaining.
Canales and company have plenty more work to do with nine outgoing players currently in the transfer portal and a 10th, Nigel Burris, departing the team as a senior. Sources say this week is a busy one, recruiting-wise, with several more campus visits on tap.
The transfer portal remains open through April 21; players do not need to sign with their new school in that time, but simply have their name entered into the portal database to be eligible next season.
