Weber State soccer shoots past SLCC 6-1 in exhibition win

The senior Blum scored in the 27th minute, assisted by fifth-year player Sayler Schlosser, and added a goal in the 61st minute to cap the scoring, assisted by junior Oakley Anderson.
It was Anderson who opened the tally, netting in the 13th minute. Junior forward Cici Garcia soon followed with a score in the 19th minute.
Freshman KJ Skinner, assisted by sophomore Nellie Brooks, made it 4-0 at halftime with a goal in the 38th minute.
Sophomore and Layton native Simone Packer punched in a 54th-minute penalty kick before Blum’s final goal.
WSU outshot SLCC 10-2 with shots on goal, and it was sophomore Lauren Butorac, returning from a stellar first season, making the Wildcats’ lone save in the first 31 minutes. WSU split time in goal in thirds; senior Maya Cordova got the next 30-plus minutes, surrendering a goal to SLCC’s Nanami Nakagawa, and junior Lily Loyet had the last 28 minutes.
After coming a penalty shootout away from the NCAA Tournament in his first year, head coach Kyle Christensen officially opens the 2026 campaign Wednesday, Aug. 12, with a 7 p.m. kick at Utah. The Wildcats’ home opener is Sunday, Aug. 16, with a 6 p.m. start against Boise State. Both games will stream on ESPN+.
