Weber State soccer loses touch in 4-1 home loss to Boise State

By BRETT HEIN - Standard-Examiner | Aug 16, 2026

The excitement of Weber State soccer’s home opener gave way to goals and a barrage of shots from Boise State and the Wildcats took a 4-1 loss Sunday night at Wildcat Soccer Field.

Boise State (2-0) now has a 16-game regular-season unbeaten streak dating back to the week when WSU won at Boise last season.

Weber State (0-1-1) scored in the 31st minute, a Sayler Schlosser goal assisted by former Boise transfer Oakley Anderson. That knotted the match 1-1 and gave WSU its first goal of the season.

But the Broncos outshot the Wildcats 12-4 in attempts on frame, and that was too much for WSU to overcome. After Jillian Anderson scored in the eighth minute, Elyse McGinnis put Boise back in front 2-1 with a goal in the 36th minute.

Sophie Schmautz netted in the 47th minute to put the visitors in firm control just out of halftime, and Campbell Wilson put a cherry on top in the 81st minute.

Weber State next travels to Wyoming for a match on Thursday, then returns home for a 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday, Aug. 23, in hosting Oregon State.

WSU VOLLEYBALL UNDERWAY

Weber State volleyball unofficially opened the 2026 season with a 3-1 exhibition loss Saturday at Utah (25-16, 25-19, 20-25, 25-17). No stats were available.

The Wildcats have two more exhibitions before starting the regular season, both at home. WSU hosts Westminster University at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, and an intrasquad scrimmage at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24.

Starting at $4.32/week.
