The travels and travails of Dillon Jones continued Tuesday with a trip back across the country.

The New York Knicks announced the team has signed Jones, the Weber State alum, to a two-way contract. In his second professional season, that sends Jones under the umbrella of his fourth NBA team.

The former 2024 first-round draft pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder was traded after his rookie season to the Washington Wizards for the summer and waived before the current regular season. By way of the No. 1 pick in the G League Draft, the Rip City Remix (affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers) acquired Jones in October 2025.

In 24 starts with the Remix, Jones averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 1.8 steals over 37.5 minutes per game.

A two-way contract allows NBA teams to roster three additional players above the active 15-man roster. Two-way players, who must have three or fewer years of service time, often play with both their NBA team and its G League affiliate, with a maximum of 50 games active with the NBA team if rostered for the full season.

The Knicks are currently third in the Eastern Conference and bring in Jones with 39 games left in the regular season. That would make Jones eligible for about 24 games with the New York Knicks. Otherwise, he’ll spend time on the court with the Westchester Knicks.

Two-way players are paid $636,435 per season, which is half the rookie minimum; Jones will earn a pro-rated portion of that amount plus continued payments of the $2.75 million by the Wizards from the final year of his rookie contract.

In his fourth year at Weber State, Jones averaged 20.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He became the only Division I men’s player in at least 31 years (as far back as Sports Reference has full college stats) to total at least 600 points, 300 rebounds, 160 assists and 60 steals in one season.

He capped his 119-game WSU career as the program’s all-time No. 1 in steals (208), No. 2 in assists (412), No. 3 in rebounds (1,138), No. 5 in points (1,782), and No. 2 in made free throws (497).

Jones became the first Weber State alum to appear in, and then win, an NBA Finals with the Thunder in 2025. Of the 12 WSU alums to play in the NBA or ABA, he became the sixth to record points in the playoffs.

Starting at $4.32/week.
